Hedrich Báez, pianist, keyboard player and composer, interested in the fusion of Afro-dominican music with other genres. In search for new sonorities he creates the project Hedrich Báez & La Juntiña, with the collaboration of Magic Mejía in percussion arrangements. Afrodominican jazz that is taking risks and making and honest bet, progressively navigating from a mix of jazz with the familiar taste of merengue, to the more traditional folk rhythms of the island. The sound transmits the strength of the ancestral in a more contemporary sound environment, enabling this music to draw all kinds of public closer to the jazz language, braking barriers in and unusual yet organic way.

His studies and experience in music gave him the foundation for being able to create this project. In the academic field he owns a bachelor’s degree in music education from the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD). In his training as a pianist he was a student of, Mrs. Celeste viuda de Marco (classical piano), Gustavo Rodríguez (piano jazz and improvisation). Made his studies of harmony and composition with Dr. Santiago Fals and Javier Vargas. Báez has worked with several artists and Dominican bands, participating in festivals nationally and internationally. Some of the artists include : Xiomara Fortuna, Fernando Echavarría y familia André, Maracandé, Roldan Mármol y su grupo. Has also collaborated with con José Duluc renowned afro Dominican music.
